REINZ, with the help of Edwards, recently delivered the inaugural Young Professionals in Real Estate Conference, the first of its kind in New Zealand.

Planning an Inaugural Event

This was the first time that REINZ had incorporated AV to such an extent, forming a key part of the event strategy. “We were so impressed with the willingness of Edwards to work with us to ensure our vision came to life,” recalls Lisa Stern, Education Coordinator.

“Relationships are critical for inaugural events. Both the conference organiser and the AV company need to trust each other implicitly as you are together on a learning journey,” advises Brittany Cooling, Account Manager for Edwards Sound. “REINZ knew what they wanted to achieve – an inspiring and motivational event with opportunities to connect. We listened, understood and translated their vision.”

The Early Stages

Two of Edwards’ technical team, Harry and Shea, were very involved from the beginning, safeguarding that nothing was ‘lost in translation’ between the client, technicians and the account manager. “This is particularly important with first time events where updates and changes are inevitable throughout the planning process. Both the Edwards and REINZ teams ensured that there was always open communication,” recalls Brittany. “We concentrated on how we could make the vision happen, while still being conscious of budgets and expectations. It was a huge team effort by both parties.”

The Solution – in Pictures

 

Edwards provided:

  • Staging to elevate the speakers and the guest panel, and to provide a level surface for our LED screen
  • Draping for wings off the LED screen and a drape tunnel to separate the conference and exhibition areas
  • Stage and exhibition lighting: fresnels and LED floods
  • Sound system: a mix of DAS Artec 510’s and DAS Avant12’s
  • Shure wireless microphones
  • A 9m x 2.5m LED Screen
  • Two presenter monitors (one for a countdown monitor)
  • Two technicians: both onsite for duration of the event, one to focus on the visuals and the LED screen, and the other to manage the audio.

Set Up

Brittany felt the install went smoothly, “We were very fortunate to have early access ahead of other suppliers so we could focus solely on what we needed to do and not be distracted by other suppliers packing in. Our team came back prior to the event starting to add the final touches such as focusing the lights on the exhibition booths and checking presentations with the client. Just as with any event we had a few last minute changes, but the team got them sorted.”

The Event

Lisa Stern, Education Coordinator, REINZ commented, “The Edwards team were seamless, from faultless audio transitions between speakers and session breaks, right through to a totally discrete pack-down at the end of the event. Working behind the scenes, Edwards packed out whilst the DJ played house music for the remaining attendees until the last guest finished up and fed out.”

Our event delegates were very impressed, many commenting on the 9 metre LED screen. It elevated the whole look and feel of the event and became a central point for the room.
