Charge the batteries!
If your school or community group has a portable PA system or rechargeable powered speakers PLEASE designate someone to charge up the batteries fully before you close down for the year and store the units.
The built-in lead acid batteries can be damaged (and possibly completely wrecked) by storing your PA system with flat batteries, even for a few days.
Too late?!
Batteries can easily be replaced to rejuvenate your systems if it is too late and the damage is done but it costs a couple of hundred dollars and you have all the inconvenience of getting it to us, or a service agent...so best to leave them all charged up and save yourself the expense and bother. Appoint someone Chief Battery Officer today :)
And remove any flat batteries too
And while you are there, remember to remove any flat batteries from handheld or lapel microphones so they don't leak and damage the mic.
