“Seeing the look on the customer’s face, when they realise that they can play a video on their iPad in one room, have it appear on all eight screens around the training centre simultaneously, while streaming it to the internet - all controlled from an 8’ wireless panel is our reward. That’s where we get our satisfaction!”
- Jonathan Hardie Neil, Managing Director, Edwards
Jonathan is talking about the recently completed design and installation of the audio, video and control system for the Employers and Manufacturers’ Association new innovative learning centre. The EMA use Edwards Hire on a regular basis for their conferences and events. The EMA knew that Edwards had practical hands-on understanding of what today’s professional development entails. No more staring aimlessly at a PowerPoint presentation whilst dreaming about the next coffee break.
Rather Edwards and the EMA worked together to create a mind-blowingly collaborative and flexible space. The walls can move to suit the event, so Edwards made sure that the audio and video could too. Plus it can all be controlled at the push of a button, no matter your level of technical expertise.
The real collaboration comes in the shape of Kramer’s Via Campus and Via College. Jonathan explains, “These are amazing devices – the commercial version of 'Apple TV' but offering a lot more than simply wirelessly connecting presentations to screens. Delegates can receive and view the presentation on their own device be it an iPad, tablet or laptop. They can take notes, make screenshots and save the presentation and annotations automatically to their device.” These tools also enable two-way communication with chat functionality or the facilitator can even hand over control of the display to a delegate – no more passive listening / dreaming for EMA delegates! Or even the people in the offices next door, who can tap into the event too.
And for the facilitator, access to all these tools and more (the blinds, the volume, the lighting) is through a wall mounted touch panel for in-room control no matter the room configuration. David Foley, Manager of Learning at the EMA describes it as "Quite cool and more importantly idiot-proof!"
