Professional Lighting, Sound and Projection Solution for School Hall
Education at Weymouth Primary School is all about allowing students to achieve their dreams. Daniel, the school’s IT Manager, worked with our installation team to transform the school hall into a performing arts wonderland, where students’ musical, speech and acting abilities can shine.
The Vision
Daniel wanted a professional set up to showcase the school’s 500 plus students’ many talents. This required a complete upgrade of the school hall lighting, audio-visual and sound system. He also wanted dual projectors and electric screens mounted on both sides of the stage so every person in the hall could see regardless of the audience size.
We met with Daniel a number of times to ensure that we tailored the solution to the school’s requirements, and our technicians made several site visits before the installation to make sure everyone involved was clear on the goal. There were several days of preparation work prior to install to pre-wire the lighting bars and make custom bits and pieces to ensure a smooth delivery on the day.
The Challenges
- The building: as is the case with many schools, a sloped ceiling made mounting the projectors and screens complicated. No ceiling space also meant that we had to be creative with our cabling to ensure an unobtrusive install. Our technicians’ experience on similar projects and their precision and attention to detail achieved a perfect and professional end result.
- Access during COVID19: installation was due to be carried out at the end of term one, but plans were put on hold due to the spread of COVID19. We were committed to having the job completed by the time the students returned to school in term two. As soon as the country moved to Level 3, we began work. Our crew adhered to all the Level 3 social distancing requirements and took advantage of the uninterrupted use of the hall, completing the entire installation within four days.
The Gear
We used a combination of D.A.S Audio speakers, Audiocentre amplification, Epson projectors and Kramer control gear and Chauvet stage-lighting fixtures with a Theatre-light DMX controller.
The End Result
David Hardie Neil, Commercial Sales Manager says of the project, “The best part was seeing Daniel’s smile become wider as we turned the sound up, rolled the screens down and he saw the brilliant images reflected by the full high-definition projection system. The stage looks a treat lit up with the new LED lighting system too. Daniel knew we could deliver the goods as he has used us before and has complete faith in our products, abilities and crew.”
We look forward to hearing how the students use their new professional lighting, sound and projection system to make their dreams come true.
