The Health and Safety Workers Act 2015 comes into effect on April 4th 2016. Many schools have reviewed their health and safety planning and found the ability to communicate across the school to be inadequate - but how can they fund system upgrades?
Consult your regional property manager for advice that pertains to your situation. Generic advice that we at Edwards have received is that:
- If you are rebuilding or renovating an IP audio paging system or voice reinforcement system can be included under Priority 3.
- If your school has a very high risk profile you will need to speak to your regional property manager to discuss funding a paging system under Priority 1 or 2.
- There is also health and safety contingency funding that schools set aside and can be accessed if your school is at risk.

Voice Reinforcement Systems
Often overlooked, another AV solution that can help with the "health" side of health and safety are voice reinforcement systems. Any teacher suffering from voice fatigue can benefit immediately. Again these can be funded under Priority 3 if rebuilding or renovating - or possibly under health and safety contingency funding if the system will benefit members of staff.
