AV can often be way down the list of priorities even though it will make your Xmas Party! Here’s Edwards’ last minute guide to getting your AV sorted with days to spare…
1) What’s your theme? Just ‘Christmas in general’ or are you having a Christmas Jumper Party? Disney Christmas? Masquerade Ball? Like the sound of one of those? You can still pull it together. Make the most of lighting, maybe add in a smoke machine, some sound effects and a data projector or two to throw Disney castles or Christmas content on the walls and you’re sorted. No need to hang decorations either! Oh – and for the Christmas Jumper Party, project a live online poll for the ugliest jumper…
2) Is it important to have your brand out there at the same time as celebrating Christmas? Think about utilising the venue entrance and light up a few cunningly placed banners, or save yourself the hassle and use a TV screen. That way you can even run a quickly put together slide show with some of the year’s highlights.
3) Worried about getting the party started? Many Christmas work parties add an awards element – some serious, some more tongue in cheek. You need a good PA system anyway for the music so why not get a wireless mic too and pat a few backs?
4) And the music…that can make or break a party. Most PA systems come with Bluetooth or an iPad/iPhone connection so why not ask each department or team to create their own 30-minute playlist. Another job ticked off the list.
5) Help! Make sure your AV Hire company has a help line or if you are using a venue’s AV company, that they have someone on call. You want to enjoy yourself too.
