Jaka has just joined Edwards as the lead Technician and Account Manager based at Ellerslie Racecourse. Originally from Slovenia, Jaka has been a technician for over seven years working most recently in a Cultural and Congress centre in his hometown.
Jaka (pronounced Yaka), brings not only his technical knowledge but also his down to earth and positive personality to the Edwards team.
What brought you to New Zealand?
Mostly curiosity, as I’ve seen a lot of people I know started moving here and all of them stayed. Of course, after exploring a bit I discovered that the nature here is amazing and it’s also not overcrowded.
How would you describe your role in a sentence?
A dynamic and rewarding role, with something new happening every day.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Knowing that I can help make things happen!
What were you doing 10 years ago today?
Finishing high school and starting a job I didn’t really want to do!
Favourite part of your role at Edwards (so far)?
Getting to meet and work with interesting people!
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
Hanging out with my girlfriend, going to the beach, playing sport, surfing, and having a glass of good wine.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I can make sourdough pizza and bread!
What makes you smile?
Lots of things! Listening to a good record, hearing from family and friends, catching a wave and eating good food.
