Meet Will from Technical Sales

Will Vogel, Technical Sales

Will has been with Edwards since March 2017 as an integral part of our Sales team.  Born in Namibia and raised in South Africa but has called New Zealand home since 2013.  Always up for a laugh and the source of many a good “yarn” in the workplace.

Do you have a nickname or name that your friend’s call you?

I don’t really have anything in New Zealand but back home they called me V?el which is my last name in Dutch but also translates to “bird”.

If you could write your own job title that best describes what you do around here, what would it be?

I am in technical sales – selling everything from PA systems to bars & churches (including installation) to school bell/paging systems to schools.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

2 cups of strong coffee!

What were you doing on this day 10 years ago?

Hmmm, let’s consult Facebook memories…. Ah nothing from 10 years but 12 years ago I posted

“I feel like an Acoustic Panel” as I had just finished fitting out an entire Church worth of acoustic panelling.

What was pre-Edwards Will like?

NZ Will pre-Edwards worked as an A/V installer for Halogen audio whilst also playing guitar in a covers band called “Crush”.

Fav memory of your time at Edwards so far?

Client was picking me up for a site visit, at the same time as somebody else booked an Uber from same address… I got in the wrong car. Took 10mins of awkward conversation on the motorway before we both realised what had happened.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I’m a knife collector and I’m trying to be a musician again.

I like to spend weekends cruising around on the motorbike with my wife.

Do you have a secret talent that no one knows about?

I can put my leg behind my head.

What makes you smile?

This Question… this awkward question OR when someone asks me to smile for a picture

Tell us about the pet you had back in South Africa?

I used to have a 1.8m Boa Constrictor, her name was Lerato which translates from Sesotho to Love in English.
