Sport and The Audio-Visual

The AIMs Games was without exaggeration a massive event, with 10,000 intermediate students participating. Edwards were proud sponsors of the HipHop Competition and our congratulations go to the winners Tauranga Intermediate, Bucklands Beach Intermediate, Saint Kentigerns College and Maeroa Intermediate, plus all the other competitors.

As the AIMS Games 2017 close, it might be timely to reflect on the contribution that AV can make to the success of any sporting event at school or club level. For the AIMS Games, live streaming meant that family and friends who could not travel to the event could be a part of it. Even streaming to a large screen within the venue itself or to neighbouring rooms or outdoors means that many more people get to be involved. It also makes information management a breeze, not just the score and final results but also the health and safety and practicalities. Hiring the equipment for a day won’t break the bank, often means that you have experts there to set it up and operate it and it can always be sponsored by a local business or two!

Good audio is often required for health and safety purposes but mostly it adds to the atmosphere. The audience want to be able to clearly hear what is happening, who’s up next and who just won. There is nothing more frustrating than being at an event and having no idea what is going on! Interviews with the victors are a bonus that will bring smiles and tears to the audience guaranteed. Integrating audio into a school sporting event is straightforward. A good quality PA System can cover 1000m2 and slave speakers can easily extend the distance still further when required.

If you’ve a sporting event coming up soon, contact our Education Sales Specialist or our Hire Department for more information and ideas to make your event as enjoyable for the spectators as the participants.
