Permanent Sound and Lighting System Brings New Life to Rainbow’s End Entertainment Stage
Rainbow’s End is one of New Zealand’s most well-known theme parks, set across 9.3 hectares in Manukau, Auckland. The park features over 20 rides and attractions, and a popular entertainment stage that sees daily use. From magic shows and juggling acts to DJs, dancers, and bands for corporate events that are hosted at the venue, the stage plays host to a wide variety of daytime and evening performances.
Sound System for Live Performances
Previously, daytime events relied on a basic sound system that often fell short when used with music or live acts. Evening performances were managed either in-house or by contractors who brought in their own sound and lighting setups. Equipment was often hired from multiple companies, and although it was professional-grade to handle frequent use, the ongoing costs and coordination efforts were becoming unsustainable.
“Bookings were increasing and the costs of hiring and labour to bring in the sound and lighting gear were no longer making financial sense. We decided we wanted an easy-to-manage permanent sound and lighting system,” says Danny Berg, Entertainment Manager at Rainbow’s End.
Danny approached several sound companies for quotes. “Edwards were by far the most professional. They spent more time with us than anyone else—even bringing in their management team for a site visit. They understood what we were trying to achieve and came back with a range of options to suit different budgets.”
Danny highlights the clarity of Edwards’ proposal as a major advantage. “I’m not an AV expert, but they explained everything in plain English and patiently answered all my questions

The goal was clear: install a permanent, high-quality sound and lighting system that would save money over time while improving consistency and ease of use for staff and performers. Edwards recommended the DAS Audio Event Line Array for its power, clarity, and reliability—at a price point that made sense for a theme park. The system was paired with Sunlite lighting control software, offering professional-grade features in an intuitive interface.
“Once the speakers arrived from Spain, the Edwards team had everything installed within a week,” says Danny. “There were no surprises—no last-minute extras. I’d been worried we’d suddenly need more gear or face added costs, but that never happened.”
Since going live in July, the new system has made a noticeable difference. “We’ve always used good gear,” says Danny, “but this is a clear step up in how the stage looks and sounds. And there’s peace of mind with the warranty and Edwards’ backup service.”
Project Manager David has returned several times to check in, and technician Shae has provided ongoing training and support to ensure staff are comfortable using the system.
Danny concludes, “I’m so thankful to Edwards. Their customer service has been faultless.” With approval now in place to hang the speakers permanently, Rainbow’s End is set to enjoy even better sound in the near future.
