Retirement Village Celebrates with Gala Dinner
Mid-Winter gala dinner, dance and show for 160 residents
Singers, dancers and entertainers dazzled the residents of St Andrew’s Retirement Village, Glendowie, Auckland, with a little bit of help from Event Co-ordinator Debbie Wilsher and her go-to lighting experts, Edwards Hire.
Prior to taking over events management at St Andrew’s Village, Debbie had her own dance school, “For the last forty years I have relied on Edwards’ lighting expertise to transform all sorts of rooms and our relationship has continued now I’m working at St Andrews. A year or so ago we had a sixtieth celebration. The Catholic school next door put on a whole production for us and Edwards designed and ran all the lighting. It was an amazing show.”
The brief for St Andrews’ annual mid-Winter extravaganza was ‘Putting on the Ritz’, “I always have an idea of what I want to achieve, and Edwards just make it happen.” An added complication this time was the recently decorated ceiling, “We didn’t want to hang anything and damage our new paintwork but Jen, our Account Manager, simply worked around it.”
Edwards were also on hand for set up, pack down and to operate the lights during the show, “They are so reliable. It is a big thing when you are organising an event of this size. They turn up exactly when they say they will, from the first meeting to the day itself. For me that is really important.”
“Our guests loved the atmosphere that Edwards created and were up dancing all night. I would never use anyone else but Edwards, they are such clever technicians.”
