What brought you to NZ?
I moved to New Zealand about 9 years ago with my husband who found a job here as a structural engineer. Moving to another country when you are an adult is always a bit daunting. It wasn’t easy at the beginning but eventually I found my way here and I love New Zealand. I discovered we have a lot in common, especially the love for coffee!
If you could write your own job title that best describes what you do around here, what would it be?
I would say an Event Specialist. I have a background in organising events so when working with my clients, I’m not just specifying equipment. I look at the big picture and use my experience, going over and above to help them put on a successful event.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Positive thinking! Having the mindset that it’s going to be a good day makes all the difference.
I also love helping people. Whether it’s my friends, family, colleagues or customers. I love talking to people and trying to understand their needs. It’s the way to build good relationships, which ultimately makes me have a good day!
What were you doing on this day 10 years ago?
Still in Italy working for a TV channel in Rome. Possibly having an Aperitivo with colleagues.
What was pre-Edwards Flavia like?
Well the virus pandemic happened in my first 3 months and I have actually learnt a lot over this period of my life. Not to be so stressed, enjoy time with friends, enjoy time at work and generally don’t take everything so seriously. So, I would say pre-Edwards me was a bit more stressed actually!
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
Spending time with friends, sailing in the Bay of Islands and travelling to Italy. I also volunteer with the Dante Alighieri Society which is an Italian school in Auckland. It’s been a great way for me to share my culture and make new friends here. We have some amazing kiwi students who have been learning Italian for many years. We also organise events with fantastic food and wine – I’m very happy that the Festival Italiano is going ahead this year again in November. Anyone reading this should come along!
Do you have a secret talent that no one knows about?
Doodling! I love to draw. Although I don’t think it’s much of a secret. In every meeting you will find me doodling while listening. I love to draw dresses and fashion.
What makes you smile?
Sharing a meal and a good wine with friends and family talking about life.
