Projection Mapping

Projection Mapping

In these photos taken recently at a client’s opening ceremony for their annual conference, Edwards used a combination of an illuminated stage and projection mapping onto cubes and a lectern to create a thrilling spectacle. Projection Mapping or Video Mapping uses everyday video projectors, but instead of projecting on a flat screen light is mapped onto any surface, turning common objects into interactive displays. Specialized software allows presentations to be easily created and customised.

Projection mapping really is only limited by your imagination, and perhaps your budget! If you want to project onto a whole building or turn your conference room into a living breathing jungle that will cost. Here’s some amazing examples of where we are at with projection mapping today.

However, projection mapping doesn’t have to blow your budget to create a big impression, get talked about and create those video shares.

Here’s some simple and cost-effective ways to use projection mapping to enhance your next event:

Trade stands/Roadshows

  • No need for props – simply project your theme onto the walls of your trade stand. Never worry about getting something into the lift again.
  • You can even project your products – the car industry frequently set up blank white foam shells in the shape of their models and use projection mapping to bring them to life. Saves on shipping and creates a talking point.

Product Launches/AGMs/Conferences

  • Your branding is not restricted to banners or a single slide at the start of a presentation. Instead it can be anywhere, anyhow and anytime, taking advantage of the venue’s architecture.
  • A flick of a button and you can move the branding as you switch from lecture to networking. Days of shifting all the marketing collateral are gone!

Parties/Weddings

  • Don’t hang lights – just project them
  • Same with flowers and greenery – project them onto the stage or have rose petals cascade from the ceiling
  • Milk the theme – project anything from Ancient Egypt to the 1920’s to the final frontier onto the walls
  • Use the cake - project the bride and groom walking across the wedding cake into the future…
